Establish a workout routine.

Hey friends! Today I’d like to talk to you about learning how to establish a workout routine. I don’t know about you, but for me it can be challenging! I am a four-time marathoner and an Ironman triathlete hopeful, and this is still a tough one!
Figure out the best time for you
For me, a wife and a teacher the morning is the only time that ever works. I know mornings are rough. I know it can be the hardest thing to leave a warm cozy bed to hit the elements or even the yoga mat in your basement, but that’s the only time I am guaranteed to make it happen. For my wonderful mama, morning doesn’t work. She watches three kids and has my daddy who works out indoors in the morning. For her the best time is right before bed. It helps her unwind and have time for herself after a long day. For others, the lunch break is what works to refocus them for the rest of the workday. My point is, there isn’t one right answer. It’s what you have time for.
Find something you like to do
You will hear (or rather read) me saying working out is not the most crucial part of weight loss (if that’s a goal of yours), but it is crucial to your health and well-being. Baby steps people. Don’t go out and say you’re going to run a 5k if you’ve never run before and you hate it. OH and please don’t tell my triathlete friends I said this, but your favorite way to workout is the way you should workout. Don’t let your crazy running friends convince you to run a race if the thought of running makes you want to vomit. In this case…you do you baby boo. That’s the only way you’ll be consistent.
Start at your level
If you’ve never worked out before start with something easy and fun that makes you excited. Do something for 10 minutes. Gradually build up. I can guarantee if you have never worked out and you start out with an hour a day workout, that business ain’t lasting. If you gradually build up though you’ll get more energy, more endurance, and more passion for whatever your favorite workout is. And if you’ve been sitting here reading and waiting for an example schedule because you’re type A like me….FINE! Follow my pinterest page to the right. There I have workouts I do at home. Please make it work for your fitness level. Peace out girl (or boy) scouts!
